North End Meeting "DCC North Dunedin Housing Futures Project"
This DCC project focuses on North Dunedin and examines whether there will be sufficient and appropriate housing to meet community needs over the next 30 years.
A key objective is to ensure future housing supports and enhances the student living experience while studying in Dunedin.
The project aims to develop a clear understanding of current and future housing demand, alongside the planning and infrastructure factors that influence the delivery of new homes.
To achieve this, the DCC is collecting and analysing information from interviews, surveys, and existing administrative data. Please note that this project does not provide funding and does not involve constructing new housing or infrastructure. Instead, it is an evidence-based assessment of future housing demand, current supply, and any planning or infrastructure constraints that may affect growth.
The findings will inform recommendations on whether changes to land-use policies or infrastructure settings are required to support sustainable development. This work will contribute to the evidence base for the 2026 Housing and Business Capacity Assessment, the 2027 Spatial Plan, and the 2029 Land-Use Plan.
